Mouni Roy opens up about misbehaviour that scarred her at 21; says, “The man literally held my face and showed me mouth to mouth respiration”
Mouni Roy has shared a deeply unsettling incident that occurred early in her career—an event that left her shaken for a long time. Although she says she never encountered the infamous “casting couch”, she revealed that she was subject to inappropriate conduct when she was just 21.
During a conversation with host Apoorva Mukhija on the show Spice It Up, Roy recalled, “Casting couch toh nahi hua, but badtameezi hui hai. I was 21-22 years old and I had gone to someone’s office where people were there inside the office where narration was being given. Suddenly there was a scene where the girl falls into the swimming pool, she looses consciousness and the hero gets her out and gives her mouth to mouth respiration and she gains conciousness.”
She went on to describe the moment, “The man literally held my face and showed me mouth to mouth respiration. Uss 1‑split second main mujhe samajh hi nahi aaya mere saath kya hua. I started shaking and I ran down. It really scarred me for a real long time.”
Mouni did not name the person who behaved in this manner, nor did she indicate whether it was an actor, director or casting agent. What is clear is that the episode challenged her sense of safety and left a psychological mark.
The actress began her career with the television series Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi and rose to prominence with shows such as Naagin. She ventured into films with Gold alongside Akshay Kumar, and has since appeared in titles including Romeo Akbar Walter and Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva.
In the wake of her disclosure, Roy’s candidness has added to ongoing conversations around the lesser‑spoken but pervasive issues of harassment and misconduct within the entertainment industry. Her story underscores that even those who appear to have “made it” still face vulnerabilities and often carry silent scars from early career experiences.
